The Precision Welding Solutions Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer. This position primarily supports current production products and will also support new product development activities, as required.

We are looking for a positive, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both in a team and individually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct involvement in all design activities including CAD design, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, reliability, 3rd party compliance testing, documentation, product changes, and manufacturing support

  • Work with other engineers, technicians, service, and manufacturing personnel to create and implement reliable, cost-effective, streamlined, and simplified, product solutions

  • Design and document components and assemblies using SolidWorks

  • Direct involvement with the materials team throughout the entire product life cycle to ensure a secure material source, quality integrity, and meeting cost metrics

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-5 years of relevant industry experience preferred

  • Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively complete tasks individually as well as in a cross-function team environment

  • Product design experience: component level and system level design knowledge

  • Computer design proficiency: knowledge in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products

  • Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles: statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, fluid and thermo dynamics, machine design, test and measurement, and energy conversion systems

  • Experience in additive manufacturing for prototyping and validation

  • Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS A PLUS:

  • Wide breadth of manufacturing process knowledge: injection molding, thermoforming and blow molding, sheet metal fabrication, milling and turning, casting, extruding, and joining

  • Familiarity with CSA, IEC, and UL or experience with other Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories

  • Familiarity with quality control approaches, creation of reliability test plans, and reliable component design

  • Experience in component inspection using various metrology equipment

  • A track record of implementing creative designs

  • Experience in design for manufacture and assembly: simplification of product structure/sourcing, reduction of manufacturing and assembly cost, and elimination of inefficiency and waste

  • Customer interaction and customer backed innovation
