Summary
TheSchool of Kinesiology (http://www.kines.umich.edu/) is the fourth-largest undergraduate admitting school at the University of Michigan, with approximately 1000 undergraduate students and 140 graduate students across our four programs of Applied Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Movement Science, and Sport Management.
We are excited to invite a senior-level HR Generalist to join our expanding team of HR professionals supporting the school. In this collaborative role, we will count on you to act as our primary touchpoint for all HR-related inquiries from our staff, ensuring that we all have a clear understanding of policies, practices, and programs. We're committed to providing prompt, efficient, and professional responses to every request, maintaining a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
You will work closely with the leadership at the School of Kinesiology, where you will offer consultation and advice on HR matters concerning our staff. You'll help manage the HR processes and activities that support our staff.
This new position is also an opportunity for us to develop and enhance training programs that educate our staff and faculty about HR policies and procedures, helping us all to grow our knowledge and capabilities. You will report to the Director of Human Resources, positioning you as an HR expert and strategic partner for our managers and department staff.

Responsibilities*
Lead the staff recruitment, search, and hiring process
Develop a staff onboarding training program
Consult with managers and supervisors regarding performance concerns and help implement development plans, corrective actions
Support requests to review reclassification, equity requests, and recommend salary ranges
Ensure accurate and timely HRMS transactions for staff
Provide guidance for staff HR services for the school
Advise supervisors on hiring practices, staff performance expectations, and evaluations
Recommend new approaches to improve efficiency, service, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
Develop and implement the school's training and development strategy
Develop and present programs on HR guidelines, policies, and professional development opportunities
Support the performance evaluation process and track program effectiveness
Lead a professional development committee to enhance training and support the school'sCore Values (https://www.kines.umich.edu/about/mission-values-leadership)
Provide back-up support to the Director of HR and other SoK-HR team members
Plan cross-training opportunities with the Staff HR Generalist
Maintain general knowledge of university benefit programs and legal requirements
Oversee the completion of HR department projects
Establish cooperative relationships with support to other schools, colleges, and units
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of progressive professional experience in human resources, including at least 3 years in an intermediate to senior HR generalist or business partner level role, and including 2+ years of experience in developing and implementing training programs
Demonstrated knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures relevant to staff human resources with knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, compensation, employee development, organizational effectiveness, and employment laws
Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software like PeopleSoft/M-Pathways, office productivity software such as Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, and database user interface and query software like Business Objects and/or Tableau.

Hold a current HRCI and/or SHRM certification, or is willing to obtain one, if hired, with financial support from the school
