Madison County Government Asset Management Technician in Anderson, Indiana

Position: Asset Management Technician Department: Engineering/Highway FLSA status: Non-exempt Work Schedule: Varies M-F Status: Full-time Job Category: PAT (Professional, Administrative, Technological)

Job Description Individual will work in cooperation with County Engineer, Engineering Technician, and Highway Superintendent to oversee asset management and assist with capital planning and improvements for the roads and bridges of Madison County. Individual also provides support to other County departments to ensure collaborative efforts in overseeing and managing growth within the County. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead annual updating and implementing the Countys Pavement Asset Management Plan (PAMP)
  • Lead annual updating and implementing the Countys Bridge Asset Management Plan (BAMP)
  • Assisting with regularly updating and implementing the Countys Small Structures Asset Management Plan (SSAMP)
  • Assist with investigating and determining repairs/replacement needs for culverts and other drainage infrastructure in the County right-or-way
  • Assist with reviewing and approving Utility Permits and Permits for work within the County right-of-way
  • Assist with providing technical review for Driveway Permits and coordinating with the Planning Department on approvals
  • Assist with maintenance and replacement of road signs and pavement markings throughout the County
  • Managing outside contractors on capital improvement projects, including inspecting their work, coordinating efforts, and managing necessary paperwork
  • Facilitating purchasing of various materials and supplies, including road signs, drainage infrastructure materials, etc.
  • Receiving, investigating, and responding to customer complaints, including drainage complaints
  • Assisting with managing funding opportunities, capital budgets, and project budgets
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or transportation field, or a similar area
  • Proficient with GIS or other asset management software or ability to become proficient within one year of hire
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally orally and in writing
  • Ability to pass comprehensive criminal history background checks and drug screen.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment, to multitask, and to prepare and maintain detailed reports and documentation.

Work Schedule

  • Typical work schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Hours are flexible as needed.
