Summary:

Iowa State University's Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) department seeks applicants for a new position of Associate Director of Facilities Services. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of university services, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for faculty, students, and visitors. As the Associate Director of Facilities Services, you will play a critical role in steering a services team toward excellence. This individual will serve as a multifaceted leader bringing together a variety of technical and functional groups supporting all campus, through ensuring the delivery of services in building automation system administration, sustainability, special events, landscape architecture, specialty services, night custodial services, and safety system services. Collaborating closely with the FPM Directors and other department leaders, you will contribute to a cohesive, unified team in a large-scale, high-performance environment that aligns to support Iowa State University's mission, vision, and values. With approximately 70 dedicated employees under your guidance, you will have the resources and team to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the staff and operations of a diverse services team, ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets the campus community's needs.

  • Creating a high-performing and customer-focused team and shaping the team to reinforce collaboration, accountability, and responsibility.

  • Developing and implementing strategies to enhance service performance, focus on efficient operations, and comply with all relevant policies and regulations.

  • Overseeing and managing a budget, expenses, and financial forecasts effectively to ensure optimal allocation of resources and financial health.

  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and excellence within your team to deliver outcomes within available budgets that support the university’s mission.

  • Providing mentorship and support to your team by promoting professional growth and maintaining high levels of engagement.

  • Collaborating with other directors and the Associate Vice President to align services with the broader objectives of Facilities Planning and Management.
