Commercial Insurance Manager - Atlanta Branch

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic leader to drive profit, growth and talent development for the Atlanta Branch Commercial Insurance (CI) division. This is a critical leadership role in a high performing branch. The Atlanta branch handles a diverse group of distribution partners in the State of Georgia.

This individual will lead a team of 12 underwriters and will be based in our Alpharetta, Ga office. The CI manager is responsible for achieving profitable growth across the Atlanta PandC portfolio including local and cored resources. Responsibilities include building deep external agent and broker relationships, financial information analysis, reporting, forecasting, employee development and training, engagement with underwriting center resources, collaboration with other business units and branch marketing in order to achieve budgeted financial goals. The Atlanta CI Manager will have direct oversight of a growing $180M book of business.

Specific responsibilities include:

Profit and Growth: Accountability for total premium, retention, profitability and expense management across the entire Atlanta branch CI portfolio Execution of underwriting strategies for new and renewal business, including catastrophe management Oversight of underwriting excellence throughout the department to ensure adherence to strategy, authority and the achievement of satisfactory audit results Oversight and management of underwriting referral process and coordination of accounts that fall outside of branch authority Sales and Distribution: Assessment of the territory and identification of opportunities across all CI segments based on the industries represented in the region Development of sales and marketing strategies to ensure effective positioning of CI products and services Collaboration with the Branch Manager to strategically and effectively leverage producer relationships Primary responsibility for producer management, marketplace visibility, effective travel and coordination with remote resources for the CI team Coordination and execution of customer focus through stewardship and direct customer engagement Staff Development and Leadership: Responsible for a team comprised of 12 direct reports Accountability for the performance management process for all staff including timely performance reviews, compensation planning and implementation and performance management as needed In coordination with management and HR, accountability for developing a pipeline of talent to fill anticipated and unexpected vacancies Consistent coaching, career counseling and skill development for all CI staff Accountability for perpetuating a positive, collaborative and diverse work environment Qualifications and Competencies: 7-10 years of commercial multi-line underwriting experience A strong working knowledge of middle market PandC products and strategies Experience with managing field distribution (broker, regional, independent agents, aggregators) Exceptional leadership and people management skills Strong technical/underwriting experience and background Marketing/sales skills and demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities with flexibility and adaptability Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and teamwork
