Summary Functions as a member GI team by assisting the physician and team with all procedures, decontaminating all equipment, and preparing procedure rooms for procedures. Understands procedures, positioning of patients, and decontamination standards; works well in a fast paced patient centered environment.
Job Duties Assists with GI and pulmonary procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, and bronchospies. Completes vital signs on patients and checks for height, weight, head circumference, growth charts, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening. Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse. Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider. Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery. Maintains current knowledge of insurance, managed care plans, and medical authorization requirements. Problem solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications Technical School Diploma licensed practical nurse (LPN) program. 3 years Physician office practice setting. Ability to accept and adapt to change and recognizes differences among people. Demonstrates competency utilizing various technologies, equipment, and supplies to safely provide patient care. Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently as well as collaboratively. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients, utilizing a developmental perspective. Excellent computer skills, EMR, word processing and Excel. Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and how to perform decontamination procedures. Knowledgeable in all aspects of decontamination of GI scopes and equipment. Preferred Qualifications Proven proficiency of technology at conclusion of orientation.
Physical Demands Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
