Office of Inspector General Senior Investigative Analyst in Alexandria, Virginia

Summary This position is located within the Department of Defense (DOD), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIG-INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Services (DCIS), Investigative Operations Directorate, Asset Forfeiture Division. Responsibilities Monitors, coordinates, analyze and evaluate asset forfeiture activities in relation to financial investigative analytical tools, databases, and investigative research, budget, allocation and contract activity. Coordinates and reviews analytical and investigative asset forfeiture support to investigations and summarizes pertinent data. Develops asset forfeiture policies and procedures in accordance with basic legislation, Department of Justice guidelines and other Federal entities. Maintains expert level in asset forfeiture policy, investigative operations, investigative databases and law enforcement analysis techniques, policies and methodologies. Maintains knowledge of laws of forfeiture, arrest, search and seizure and regulations, restrictions and policies. Serves as DCIS’ Asset Forfeiture Lead for the development, design, modifications, expansion and improvements to sensitive databases, techniques and analysis based upon the law enforcement mission and to meet emerging trends. Maintains asset forfeiture software and independently provides direction to field Investigative Analysts, Agents, and Managers. Conducts trends analyses to formulate lessons learned and best practices applicable for future asset forfeiture actions and investigations. Serves as the Agency representative to the Department of Justice’s Asset Forfeiture Program and maintains significant liaison relationships with other law enforcement agencies. Has expert written and oral communication skills to represent the Program and the agency at conference sand meetings and serves as a subject matter expert and trainer for DCIS agents and analysts. Provides operational support and guidance to other programs within DCIS. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-14 level, status applicants much have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: To meet basic requirements for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service which demonstrates the ability to lead investigative analysts and manages referenced programs. Specialized experience is work experience which includes monitoring, coordinating, analyzing and evaluating activities in relation to analytical tools, asset forfeiture programs, databases and investigative research. Maintains knowledge of the laws of arrest, search and seizure and regulations, restrictions and policies that govern the collection of investigative data and documentation. Has significant oral and written communication skills to serve as a liaison and agency representative internally and externally to the agency. This experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-14 grade level.
