SUMMARY

The Lead, B2C Member-Only Content is a pivotal role at SHRM, responsible for overseeing the strategic development and execution of exclusive content aimed at enhancing the value of SHRM membership. Reporting directly to the Director, B2C Content, this leader will guide the member-only content team in producing innovative, high-quality materials tailored to the unique needs of students and HR professionals across all career stages. The Lead will champion the content strategy that elevates member engagement, satisfaction, and professional growth within SHRM.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Craft, in partnership with the Director, B2C Content, and execute a comprehensive content strategy for member-only offerings, ensuring alignment with SHRM’s strategic objectives and membership growth goals.

  • Team Management and Development: Lead and mentor a small team of content creators to produce high-quality, engaging, and innovative content tailored to SHRM members within our HR professional and student audience segments, across all phases of the customer lifecycle, including awareness, nurture, acquisition, engagement, retention, and loyalty.

  • Content Planning: Develop and manage content calendars, ensuring a consistent and strategic flow of member-only content across all channels.

  • Content Excellence and Innovation: Oversee the creation of diverse content formats such as articles, webinars, podcasts, and video series, ensuring they meet the highest standards of relevance and quality.

  • Advanced Content Analytics: Utilize sophisticated analytics tools to gauge content performance and user engagement, translating data into actionable insights for continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Serve as the primary content liaison with stakeholders across SHRM, including research, social media, education, marketing, and advocacy, to ensure content integration and coherence across platforms and amplify content reach and impact.

  • Industry Prowess: Stay abreast of HR industry trends, challenges, and opportunities to ensure content remains impactful and relevant.

  • Budget Management: Manage the content team’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with the financial goals of the organization.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR trends, issues, and the evolving needs of HR professionals and emerging talent.

  • Proven leadership and management skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams in content creation and strategy.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills demonstrated through a portfolio of work.

  • Proficiency in content management systems, SEO principles, and analytics tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships and influencing across organizational levels.

  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and engaging audiences.

  • Strong visionary with the capability to anticipate industry trends and adapt content strategies accordingly.

  • Resilient and agile, with the ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in content creation, strategy, and management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR trends, issues, and the evolving needs of HR professionals and emerging talent.

  • Proven leadership and management skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams in content creation and strategy.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills demonstrated through a portfolio of work.

  • Proficiency in content management systems, SEO principles, and analytics tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships and influencing across organizational levels.

  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and engaging audiences.

  • Strong visionary with the capability to anticipate industry trends and adapt content strategies accordingly.

  • Resilient and agile, with the ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of content marketing strategies and audience engagement principles.

  • Expert understanding of content marketing strategies and market segmentation.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, coupled with a knack for storytelling.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with a diverse audience.

  • Proficiency in digital media tools, multimedia storytelling techniques, and content management systems, Adobe Experience Manager preferred.

  • A deep understanding of business principles, economic concepts, and corporate dynamics, especially the role of HR departments.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a history of initiating innovative ideas and fostering collaborative opportunities.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to shifting priorities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in successful project management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Passionate about SHRM's mission and committed to advancing the HR profession.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of performing essential duties with reasonable accommodations.

  • Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation.

  • Occasional light lifting may be necessary.

Work environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment.

  • Expected office presence of 3 days per week.

  • Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%

The hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
