Job Description:

Responsibilities

The incumbent will work in the Public Health Information Group (PHIG) in the Office of Science to assist with updates and development of health surveillance dashboards under the purview of PHIG, as well as activities related to the launch of the Prevention Agenda 2025-2030. The incumbent will work with diverse content experts to gather data/create visualizations and summaries from a variety of data sources that may include but are not limited to birth data, death data, hospital discharge data, immunization data, the American Community Survey, sexual health, HIV data, and other large statewide surveys as appropriate. The incumbent will be responsible for accessing data and assisting in creating visualizations of various indicators to summarize and assess the broader status of the health of New Yorkers. Specifically, the incumbent will access data online or as received through data requests and help process and analyze data using various software (e.g., SAS, Excel) for updating health surveillance dashboards and assist dashboard teams in reviewing and troubleshooting Tableau data dashboards. The incumbent will also assist with related tasks as assigned to help prepare for the launch of the Prevention Agenda 2025-2030.

Minimum Qualifications

Current graduate student in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field; prior experience in using Excel and SAS.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data management and analysis; experience in maintaining and updating databases; proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 06/19/2025. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
