Location: Akron, OH (Hybrid onsite 2 days / week)

Position Description

The Goodyear Tire and Rubber company is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator who is a motivated individual to develop, deliver and manage High Performance Computing solutions to the internal customer in support of business needs. You will work with a cross-functional, cross-continental group of IT infrastructure and software engineers who refine links between tire design and vehicle performance.  The complexity and size of our environment requires both Linux and BASH scripting experience . The candidate will evolve in a global design and modeling platforms team which implements IT R&D solutions to support the tire design and manufacturing processes in two technical centers, globally.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage existing Linux High Performance Computing environments in Akron, OH and Luxembourg, Europe.

  • Provide end user support and collaborate within cross-functional, cross-continental R&D organization.

  • Maintain and patch existing systems. Plan and execute new installations and upgrades.

  • Coordinate infrastructure changes with internal and external partners.

  • Ensure the environment is secure and follows the organizational and industry standards.

  • Proactively monitor systems,driving consistentavailability.

  • Explore new solutions, create value and increase customer satisfaction.

* Required Education and Experience*

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science.In lieu of degree, 8 year of experience required.

  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience managing medium to large Linux-based infrastructure.

  • Basic network and cyber security understanding.

  • Experience in AWS infrastructure or DevOps would be an advantage.

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working in Linux operating system (ideally RHEL).

  • Fluency in BASH scripting (python is a plus).

  • Ideally some experience with job schedulers would be an advantage (SLURM).

  • Ideally some experience with ITIL, DevOps, AWS, would be a plus.

  • Goodplanning and troubleshooting skills.

  • Efficient communication and customer service skills.

  • Participate as an active team member, practice effective listening and effective collaboration skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to timely, high quality and error free deliverables.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Proactive in managing issues and problems, comfortable with ambiguity.
