Position The OMG Product Development and Innovation team is focused on developing compelling and innovative new products, and improving our existing products to better meet the needs of professional contractors and building specifiers in the markets we serve. Reporting to the Product Development Engineering Manager, you will become part of a team that uses a gated development process and Six Sigma tools to bring a project from ideation to commercialization and launch. Responsibilities Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees. Work with Project Manager and Product Manager to define project scope. Conduct jobsite Gemba with Product Manager to identify current practices, define Job To be Done (JTBD), uncover unmet needs, and review any relevant existing Intellectual Property. Apply New Product Development tools to prioritize Critical to Quality (CTQ) targets. Identify and acquire internal and external development resources to generate potential solutions that meet project demands. Bring potential solutions through NPD stage gate process while continuously narrowing focus toward best potential concepts for commercialization. Design experiments and testing process to evaluate effectiveness of potential concepts. Define and conduct FMEA to maximize potential success of new product. Minimize solution cost / maximize potential value and profitability. Help manage Intellectual Property Strategy from Provisional to Final Patent. Ensure manufacturability of selected solution for commercialization. Work with Manufacturing Engineering team to develop a manufacturing transition strategy. Success will be measured in terms of final design performance against project targets, and the creation of any new intellectual property. Requirements Bachelor\'s or Master\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering Solid Modeling experience -- SolidWorks preferred New product development experience Curious -- Naturally enthusiastic about learning how things work Demonstrated hands-on aptitude Stage Gate development process training and experience Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office suite Applied statistics Creative, tenacious and a problem solver Self-starter, highly motivated, strong sense of personal accountability A commercial perspective that drives projects to successful completion Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership. Ability to stand, see, walk, climb, talk, hear and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
