Leads crews responsible for performing statewide roadway striping, transportation maintenance and emergency response work. Work involves extensive travel across the state of Texas. Reports to the Maintenance Regional Crew Branch Manager. Works with districts and law enforcement. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Inspects completed projects for correct length of passing lanes, quality of work, etc.Inspects roads for future striping needs and marks roads for passing and no passing zones.Operates light and heavy equipment.Provides direction to crew members in execution of assignments, to include emergency response efforts; and certifies crew timesheet accuracy before submission for entry.Travels to work assignments and evaluates materials and equipment needed for maintenance work or emergency response.Coordinates crew coverage for roadway striping or general transportation maintenance assignments with branch manager.Oversees application of paint and thermoplastic pavement markings.Leads and trains crew member and district staff on equipment use, material application, etc.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Ensures safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
