About Our Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Area Manager - Services at our Bathurst vegetable and snack lines processing plant. Simplot Bathurst employs over 150 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko.
An investment of $65 million is currently being made at the site. This investment will transform the site into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enable increased production capacity, and ultimately help boost local and export volumes. The works which are anticipated to be completed in 2024, will see the sites facilities upgraded, the extension of existing production areas, and the installation of new equipment, including new vegetable processing technologies.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will lead and manage site services activities whilst meeting safety, quality, environmental and cost targets.
What You Will Do
Lead and manage site Stores personnel and the Senior Maintenance Planner, whilst overseeing indirect services trades, and external suppliers / contractors
Assume responsibility for refrigeration, steam, water, fire and compressed air services, maintenance, audit and compliance activities to the site
Manage supply and maintenance of site Electrical supply up to the site Low Voltage (LV) side, gases and water
Manage the waste water treatment infrastructure, general building facilities and infrastructure
Manage engineering and maintenance resources for site services provided via site and contract trades
Manage the provision of maintenance services to local field equipment
Support engineering projects, incident investigations and continuous improvement activities
Develop and implement maintenance strategies for plant and equipment used to provide site services
Monitor the performance of equipment associated with the delivery of services, developing and implementing plans that will improve reliability, efficiency and cost optimisation
In collaboration with the Engineering and Capital teams, manage, support and coordinate minor site services capital projects
About You
Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace
Lean / Six Sigma (Kaizan, Gemba, 5S) (desirable)
Sound building services/maintenance experience and knowledge gained from a manufacturing environment and integrated lean models of operation, preferably in the FMCG/ food industry
Demonstrated experience working in engineering stores, engine / compressor rooms, services, waste water and water treatment plants, factory buildings and yards
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams, build rapport and work cohesively with contractors/suppliers and employees at all levels of the business – management, staff and shop floor personnel
EAMS/CMMS skills - experience in the use of MEX, SAP and JDE CAMS is highly desirable
Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) processes, tools and techniques
Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
High attention to detail - the role requires a strong focus on planning and organisation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and make informed and timely decisions
Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
