Position Description

The position will be part of a team responsible for our growing natural gas marketing business under the Midstream organization. The candidate will be involved with reviewing contracts, analyzing volumes, invoice processing, monthly accounting close, recording journal entries, income/expense variance analyses, account reconciliations, preparing reports and internal/external reporting.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and coordinate month-end close process

  • Complete monthly income packages for internal management review, including estimate vs actual analysis

  • Perform monthly income/expense variance analyses

  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Perform quarterly fluctuation analysis for use by the Financial Reporting group and external auditors

  • Perform regulatory (FERC) and tax reporting– monthly, quarterly and annually

  • Assist with audit data requests as needed

  • Update documentation (manuals, procedures, etc.) as needed

  • Ability to perform special projects as requested

    Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is a plus

  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience in the natural gas marketing industry

  • Experience and knowledge of financial hedging (NYMEX, basis and index futures)

  • Working knowledge of ASC 815 (NPNS, requirements contracts) is a plus

  • Experience with Allegro (Horizon) is a plus

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excel skills with ability to analyze and suggest enhancements to workpapers to realize efficiency gains

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a fast paced environment (Trading and Scheduling)

  • Must be a team player and work with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism

  • Overtime may be required at month/year-end or as needed
